We hugged each other and embraced our victory. Hummer added, "broken arrows over bloody arrows any day." I smiled and thanked him for making everything feel creepy and dark. He laughed, "You've never had to clean a hundred bloody arrows." The group laughed, and I quickly understood the joy of the broken arrow.

We searched the tower for artifacts for our dear Wizard. The first room resembled a laboratory. The layer of dust helped with the intensity of the room's actual purpose. We concluded that someone was trying to modify the wraiths, make them appear human. This experiment wasn't magic or sorcery this was the worse kind of manipulation, man did this. We dusted off some scrolls and managed to find a piece large enough to stretch over a canvas. The image was of a skull and possibly attempts to attach a nose to the faceless wraiths. The color had worn, and its natural patina was remarkable. Cracks and decay blended with patches of pigment. The message was simple; the painting would represent a needlessly self-destructive over-reaction to a problem, cutting off the nose to spite the face. An empathetic homework assignment.
